Description

Oak, copper, brass, leather and linen. Set in an old Devonian apple orchard, the green wagon is a one off design making glamping accessible and luxurious.

It has its own small kitchen and wetroom, but also has a firepit with a swing arm for ease of use, and a woodfired hot tub situated for ease of access.

Instead of TV and wifi we supply a telescope and book of constellations, a marshmallow toasting fork, and some games. Accessible paths meander through the woodland to an old oak, encircled by a bench. Stop, lean back, enjoy the breeze through the branches. Continue along the path to a communal firepit with pizza oven.

Don't feel like cooking? We can supply you with meals. We also have a Tramper (off road mobility scooter) and a disabled friendly tandem for hire. We offer cycling safaris of the local area, and can supply a picnic of great local produce.

Will the host be living at the property during a stay?

Yes (vendor lives on-site but in a separate property)

Accessibility

  • Lift
    • At least 80cm x 130cm (width x depth)

We have designed the cabin with accessibility in mind, it is custom made. The spaces in the wagon follow the guidelines from Tourism in Britain. The front door is 850mm wide and the door to the wet room is 820mm wide. The bed is at a convenient height for transfers (500mm) and the sinks have been planned for ease of use with roll-under sinks in the kitchen and bathroom, and taps that reduce the need for twisting. The work surfaces in the kitchen are 900mm high with a 500mm deep work surface to the taps. The sink in the kitchen has 630mm space for rolling under.

The bathroom is a wet room with a roll-under sink. One thing to be aware of, because of the constraints of the space it is not possible to turn a chair around in the bathroom, you have to reverse out. Toilet seat is 460mm high and the sink is 900mm high.

We have the correct size spaces for accessible parking bays, our pathways are the same spec as those used by the National Trust for accessibility.

Terrain Around Property:

The paths are accessible and the correct gradients, although the land is on a slope. The decking is non slip. The wagon is on hydraulics to make sure that it is at the same level as the decking.

Attractions

We are between the Exe and Culm rivers, surrounded by country lanes and small Devon villages with great pubs. The Cathedral City of Exeter, with excellent attractions, shopping and restaurants, is 10 minutes away and we are on a frequent bus route. The Exeter Mobility Centre is near to the bus station and has a great range of scooters and other equipment. Killerton House is very nearby, and another National Trust property, Knightshayes, is also easily within reach. Exmouth beach with 6 miles of golden sand is 10 miles away, with good access. Haldon Forest, with miles of accessible pathways and a Tramper is a 15 minute drive away. We are also in easy reach of Dartmoor with its breathtaking views and cosy pubs. Bickleigh Mill offers good shopping and a lovely restaurant.
